What Does the Bible Say About Happiness?
I remember hearing the above-quoted upbeat song when I was a seven-year-old in New England. The gentle reggae drew me in, and the words seemed right enough. It was the first a cappella song to hit number one on the Billboard Hot charts, and it no doubt lent wind to a thousand collegiate a cappella groups. Humanity is hardwired to pursue happiness. There is no toddler training course on the subject. We just naturally, instinctively, pre-cognitively want to be happy. So we pursue happiness, just as we always have.
God wants us to be happy. But what does that look like? How do we find happiness? The only way to find happiness is through Him. He created us! God knows us better than we know ourselves. Some of His ways may seem counterintuitive at first, but the verses that follow demonstrate where true contentment and joy is found—in Him!
Affluence and personal peace at any price as the controlling factors of life are as ugly as anything could be. So what does the Bible say about finding happiness? When personal happiness becomes the end goal of all that we seek, personal happiness then becomes the governing principle in our individual lives rather than Holy Spirit. What Psalm implies is that delighting yourself in the Lord is the desire of your heart. When you seek happiness in Christ you will find it.

Does the Bible Say It's a Sin to Be Wealthy?
T here are many precious promises for Christians but does God promise us happiness in this life? What does the Bible say is in store for believers in this world? In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! Peace and joy are not the same thing as happiness because happiness is based upon happenings and happenings are temporary but the peace of God endures forever, even in hardships in this life. That is a lie from the Devil. Jesus said it would not be a happy experience or easy but difficult and narrow.
Here are three of my favorite Bible verses that prove God wants us to be happy. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. This verse not only commands us to trust the Lord, but reminds us that finding delight in the Lord will also result in positive things coming your way! Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. There are so many inspirational psalms, and this is definitely one of them.
