This question is typically asked so that the hiring manager can get a better idea of who you are as a person when you are not working. These types of questions may not be asked at every interview, but it is important to be prepared and be well-read.

Which book did you enjoy most this year?

Jul 30, AM. I just finished Alys, Always by Harriet Martin and have some ambicalent feelings. On the one Hand I thought the writing was beautiful but the plot did little for me and it had a rather predictable ending. Hi just finished and I enjoyed parts of it but found the overall story a little predictable. I have a better understanding of Greek modern history now though.

It's a continually evolving digital world - we'd like to share some of our thoughts on what's happening in the digital landscape and how that affects our day-to-day lives. We might talk about some other things too. I suspect many of the books listed below will have the same effect on me in a few years. I will continue to pick and read any both the Heath brothers write. Their first book Made to Stick , and I continue to read it at least once a year. I only wish it was longer.

But our community, who love sharing their thoughts with each other on a regular basis, have also asked us to host a discussion about their best reads of the year — that is, the books they have enjoyed the most, no matter if they were published in or Books are for eternity, not just for a particular year. I held off mentioning it when you asked for reader's top picks because it had already been picked by several of your leading authors but that's because it is a completely amazing book and so if you're asking which book I enjoyed most this year then it would have to be Dept of Speculation by Jenny Offill. It's a distilled work of wonderful insight, humour and heartbreak with some of the finest writing I have read in this or any year. A portrait of a disintegrating marriage and a mirror held up to just about any reader I would have thought, such is its humanity. I cannot recommend highly enough.

There was….. And not even just the love of books. Like many a novel with a bookstore, this one has quirky employees and owners and encyclopedic knowledge.

  1. Like it says, a list of everything I've read. I found this absolutely charming and it's exactly the book I needed at that . I also enjoyed the structure of the book.
